Tageos Unveils EOS-450 MW: High-Performance Microwave-Compatible RAIN RFID Inlays for Food Packaging

New inlays address rapidly evolving requirements for RAIN RFID food tagging and mark an important step toward a broader family of microwave-compatible products

Montpellier, France and Chicago, Illinois - Tageos, a global leader in the development and manufacture of RFID and wireless IoT inlays and tags, has today announced the launch of two high-performance, microwave-compatible RAIN RFID inlays: the EOS-450 MW M830 and the EOS-450 MW UX. Specifically designed for use with packaged food, the new RAIN RFID inlays will be launched at LOUPE Americas 2026 in Chicago, where the company will be showcasing its latest product innovations at Booth #420.

With the new EOS-450 MW M830 and EOS-450 MW UX, Tageos is responding to the rapidly changing market demand for RAIN RFID-based food labelling. As RFID use in food retail and fast-food restaurants continues to grow, inlays and tags must ensure reliable item-level identification and inventory transparency, while also meeting the specific characteristics and handling requirements of packaged foods.

All EOS-450 MW inlays combine a slim form factor with exceptional RAIN RFID performance for a variety of packaged food items. Their specialized, sophisticated antenna designs are engineered to resist arcing and sparking under defined microwave conditions, making them ideal for use with RFID-tagged food packaging that is defrosted or heated in a microwave.

Advancing RFID Applications for Food Retail and QSRs

The company is expanding its comprehensive portfolio and plans to launch additional microwave-compatible inlays to meet a wide range of requirements, offering a broad spectrum of products for various food packaging formats and applications. The introduction of the two new variants, which are based on different RAIN RFID IC platforms, also highlights Tageos’ technology-agnostic approach, offering partners and customers greater flexibility when selecting a product to meet their specific requirements.

The inlays feature the latest RAIN RFID IC technologies. The Impinj M830-based EOS-450 MW offers 128-bit EPC memory, extended tag read range, AutoTune™ performance, improved backscatter efficiency, and Gen2X enhancements. The NXP UCODE X-based EOS-450 MW provides configurable EPC memory from 96–208 bits with up to 32 bits of user memory, rapid encoding speeds, ultra-low power consumption, Gen2v2 compliance, and memory safeguards with auto-repair.

By enabling customers, such as label converters and service bureaus, to offer RFID-labels that can be left on suitable food packaging throughout its entire lifecycle, the new EOS-450 MW inlays support a comprehensive set of applications such as inventory and expiry date management, track and trace, loss prevention, and self-checkout in food retail and QSRs.

“The market for RAIN RFID-based food tagging is growing rapidly, and customers are increasingly demanding inlays that are specifically tailored to the practical requirements of modern food packaging and handling,” said Jeremy Wade, Vice President of Sales Americas, Advanced Business, at Tageos. “With the introduction of our latest innovations at LOUPE Americas 2026, we are combining microwave compatibility with best-in-class RAIN RFID performance, a combination that is essential for reliable, large-scale item-level visibility. We are firmly committed to supporting our customers as our closest partners and providing them with innovative RFID technology to help them develop and deliver solutions that best meet the needs of their own customers.”

Building a Range of Microwave-Compatible Inlays and Tags

Tageos’ new EOS-450 MW inlays mark the first step in a growing portfolio of microwave-compatible RAIN RFID products, offering customers greater flexibility in form factors and performance for diverse food packaging applications. Leveraging its expertise in antenna design, product innovation and development, and high-volume manufacturing, the company is well positioned to continue help addressing evolving market needs of product digitization as RAIN RFID and wireless IoT adoption accelerates across the food segment.

Available in dry, wet clear, paper-face, and plastic-face formats, the new EOS-450 MW inlays and tags provide the most flexible integration options for label converters and service bureaus serving packaged food markets.
