Latest Retail-Optimized Inlays for Many Applications
A variety of major retailers have already implemented or will continue to implement RFID deployments across a wide range of product categories in the coming years, representing huge potential for the RFID industry. The best way to take full advantage of it? Use Tageos’ latest, most versatile and fully ARC-compliant inlays.
The expansion of application areas for RFID-tagged products, according to the latest ARC specifications and developed specifically for the retail industry, opens up great opportunities for the entire RFID value chain, including Service Bureaus, Converters and System Integrators.
Given the requirements of extensive RFID deployments and the large number of new product groups, it makes perfect sense for customers to use as few different inlay types as possible. This, of course, requires RAIN RFID (UHF) products that can be used for the widest possible range of applications, while meeting a large number of ARC Specs. This also includes new ARC Specs which cover many product categories.
Great examples of such “broader” ARC Specs are the C2 and Y2 categories, both of which cover multiple retail product categories including general merchandise, while still focusing entirely on inlay performance aspects: C2 focuses on product performances with curved surfaces that are difficult to tag due to their shape, such as bottles, cans, or cosmetics; while Y2 focuses on performance in dense RFID tag environments.
Perfect for ARC Spec Y2, and more
Tageos offers a wide range of RAIN RFID inlays and tags that meet the requirements of ARC Spec Y2 as well as the needs of Converters and Service Bureaus alike. Among that portfolio is an innovative and highly efficient new product: the ultra-compact EOS-261 M830. ARC-certified in September 2024, it’s also the first RAIN RFID inlay based on latest Impinj® M830 ICs to comply with Specs F, I, O, Q, R, Y2, W5 and W6 while offering an ideal antenna size of 44 x 20 mm. This allows customers to use a single, high-performance small inlay for many different retail categories and items, including a wide variety of products in apparel, general merchandise, sporting goods, accessories and jewelry. EOS-261 M830 is also available in FSC® certified paper-face delivery format.
Advanced antenna designs and latest IC generations for ARC Spec C2
Our new EOS-271 U9 inlay, also launched in September 2024, is ideally suited for ARC Spec C2. Based on its advanced antenna design and equipped with the latest NXP® Semiconductors UCODE® 9 ICs, this RAIN RFID inlay combines compact size with excellent performance, especially on surfaces such as cardboard, plastic and rubber. The small antenna size of 46 mm x 9 mm enables versatile use of item-level tagging in non-food retail (cosmetics, DIY, sporting goods, toys, etc.) and supply chain management.
Earlier this year, Tageos also launched the ARC Spec C2-certified EOS-360 U9 inlay for retail and logistics applications. This RAIN RFID product is based on a completely new, very slim antenna design of 64 mm x 4 mm with unique compactness and strong performance on surfaces such as cardboard, plastic and rubber. It is also ideal for tagging a wide variety of general merchandise, such as cosmetics, DIY, sporting goods, toys and more. With a footprint more than 45 percent smaller than the nearest competitor, its material savings and associated sustainable benefits, including reduced raw material consumption and carbon footprint, are significant.
