Let’s Innovate Together!

There are countless RFID products on the market - but often there is no optimum solution for a specific customer requirement. Developing customized products is the mission of the new Innovation Center of Excellence (ICoE), which Tageos recently unveiled at a leading wireless IoT and RFID technology event in Europe.

Due to its technological and commercial diversity, the RFID market offers a wealth of business opportunities. However, through discussions with its customer base and in-depth market analysis, Tageos has identified a gap in the rapid development of innovations and custom products for special applications in the areas of contactless IoT, BLE, RAIN RFID and HF/NFC.

To fill this gap in the value chain, Tageos has decided to create an Innovation Center of Excellence, whose facilities and services are aimed at Tageos’ customers and partners. The new ICoE was recently presented for the first time at the Wireless IoT tomorrow conference in Wiesbaden, Germany. As one of Europe's leading events for wireless IoT and RFID technology, it was also an important meeting point for Tageos’ customers, who were able to get first-hand information about the company’s offering as well as the ICoE team.

IoT SUMMIT
Wireless IoT tomorrow

The ICoE is currently being established in Munich, just minutes from Germany’s second-largest airport. Munich was chosen as the location for this facility because of its focus on digital technologies and R&D, its vibrant start-up scene, and access to local expertise in contactless technologies.

Developing new, breakthrough RFID-based products to meet customer needs

The company has a close relationship with its customers - whether Converters, Service Bureaus or System Integrators – and is equally committed to supporting their long-term success. For this reason, the company has been investing heavily in related developments for some time. This applies to product innovation in the initial development process as well as operational process excellence in volume production. It includes not only Tageos’ own innovative strength, but also that of its customers enabling them to access a broad range of new business opportunities.

In a presentation to visitors at Wireless IoT tomorrow, Thomas Germann, Senior Director R&D and Head of the ICoE at Tageos, explained the mission of the new department, which was met with great interest. “Tageos' new Innovation Center of Excellence enables customers to innovate faster and to rapidly develop the latest RFID-based products - from idea to finished product.”

The ICoE focuses on areas such as:

  • Real research enabling rapid development
  • Design of specialty products according to customer needs
  • Innovative substrates and materials
  • Design & development of contactless tags
  • Quick and on-demand prototyping
  • Custom inlay testing
  • Next-gen manufacturing

All of this can be accompanied by feasibility studies and comprehensive technical project consulting, in addition to the actual product development – all tailored to the customer’s specific needs.

Hand in hand with the customer

Overall, this approach is focused on Tageos helping its customers actively deliver  products to their end customers and/or to end-user challenges and needs, by working closely together throughout the entire project cycle. This begins with an initial consulting phase, continues through product development and prototyping, process development and pilot testing, and ends with final product delivery and project completion.
