How RFID Helped Transform JULIANA SANCHEZ

JULIANA SANCHEZ

Steady expansion and rapid growth can bring many benefits to businesses. One of Colombia’s leading women’s fashion brands is using intelligent RFID inventory management solutions to help achieve its goals quickly and effectively.

A Challenge for Growth: Effective Inventory Management

JULIANA SANCHEZ is a women’s clothing company based in Bogotá, Colombia. For six years, it has been designing unique, high-quality clothing. One of the things that sets it apart is the positive message sewn into each garment. Its rapid growth has been driven by a commitment to openness and affordability, coupled with a strong focus on empowerment.

With five stores in Bogotá’s best shopping malls, a presence in over eight multi-brand stores across Latin America and the US, and new milestones such as debuting at The Oculus in New York City in September 2024, the brand’s strength and growth are clear to see. Furthermore, the company’s reach has expanded with the launch of its collections on Amazon in the US, Mexico and Canada. However, this rapid growth has brought with it an important challenge: the management of inventory accuracy across different sales channels.

This was particularly crucial as it greatly influences store replenishment, e-commerce availability and production planning while ensuring robust accounting controls. Without efficient tools, however, scaling up can lead to inefficiencies that severely hinder the company’s growth potential.

The Smart Solution: RFID Innovation Tailored for Purpose-Driven Fashion

To overcome these challenges, JULIANA SANCHEZ partnered with Cintas y Etiquetas to develop a customized RFID solution, based on Tageos’ high-performance EOS-261 M830 inlay. While Tageos supplied the inlays, Cintas y Etiquetas provided an end-to-end solution including RAIN RFID readers and printers. This system optimizes inventory processes and creates new operational efficiencies that are critical to scaling the business. Contrary to the assumption that RFID technology is expensive and profitable only for large companies, JULIANA SANCHEZ is a great example of a small and medium-sized business that has found it accessible and cost-effective.

The Result: Increasing Growth and Happy Customers

Since integrating RFID technology, JULIANA SANCHEZ's operations have changed fundamentally:

  • Unprecedented Time Savings: Inventories that took 8 hours and 5 to 6 employees can now be completed by one person in less than an hour.
  • First-class E-commerce: Accurate inventory tracking means that a significantly higher number of products are available for online sales. This has reduced stock shortages by over 70%. Increased Customer Satisfaction: the number of order cancellations has also fallen sharply as customers can now access products quickly and reliably, greatly enhancing the shopping experience.
  • Impressive Accuracy: JULIANA SANCHEZ achieves an impressive accuracy rate of 98.5%, by synchronizing actual and theoretical inventory in real time. This rate can be improved further through constant process optimization.

Thanks to precise real-time inventory management, the brand was able to expand its business activities with confidence, whether through supplying international stores or serving a growing e-commerce customer base.

Lessons for Successful Scaling: The End-Customer’s Perspective

“Investing in RFID technology is absolutely worth it, especially if your goal is growth and expansion. It’s challenging to scale a disorganized operation. The best time to implement solutions like these is when your business is still manageable, allowing you to experiment and refine your processes without high stakes.

It's crucial to have a small but curious technical team—what I like to call a 'two-pizza team'—that’s ready to develop simple but robust tools to support the implementation. RFID is not plug-and-play; it requires cultural and organizational adjustments. However, with today’s tools, it’s possible to develop simple, cost-effective, in-house solutions to ensure success.” – Juan Felipe Co-Founder, JULIANA SANCHEZ

“Collaborating with Tageos has meant more than having a simple supplier relationship — it’s been like having a strategic partner who truly understands what it takes to grow RAIN RFID in Latin America. Their support goes far beyond the product itself. They bring expertise, foresight, and a deep commitment to helping us develop scalable solutions that make sense for our market. We’re proud to grow this technology hand-in-hand.”
